Seventh Station of the Resurrection
Jesus on the Road to Emmaus

Thomas was not there when Jesus came. The disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” He said, “Unless I see the holes that the nails made in his hands and can put my finger into the holes they made, and unless I can put my hand into his side, I refuse to believe.” Eight days later, the disciples were in the house again and Thomas was with them. The doors were closed, but Jesus came in and stood among them. “Peace be with you.” he said. Then he spoke to Thomas, “Put your finger here, look, here are my hands, Give me your hand; put it into my side. Doubt no longer, but believe.” Thomas answered, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “You believe because you can see me. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.”
John 20:24-29
F: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise You!
R: Because by the Wood of the Cross and Light of the Resurrection You have redeemed the world.
Witness account
Two of the disciples were fleeing Jerusalem and heading for Emmaus. While they are walking and talking about recent events, they are joined by a Traveller whom they do not immediately recognise as Christ. The three talk and walk to together but it is only at the breaking of bread do they realise who has accompanied them.
