Fourteenth Station of the Resurrection

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit

“How does it happen that each of us hears them speaking in in his own native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; people from Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya round Cyrene; as well as visitors from Rome – Jews and converts to Judaism alike – Cretans and Arabs; we hear them preaching in our own language about the marvels of God” Everyone was amazed and unable to explain it; they asked one another what it all meant.

Acts 2: 8 – 12

F: We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise You!

R: Because by the Wood of the Cross and Light of the Resurrection You have redeemed the world.

Fr Dominic concludes the Stations of the Resurrection with the origins of the Christian celebration of Pentecost as the Birth of the Church. Pentecost is best known for the descent of the Holy Spirit on the followers of Christ and the bestowing of gifts to help them evangelise others. We too have gifts and talents from God and we are called to use them for delivering God's Mission through Word and Deed.
